While there is an increasing demand for doctors and dentists to work in the UK, it is extremely difficult to secure a place at a British medical school. The 1-year M&D Foundation® Programme taught at Albion College offers an attractive first stage.
The M&D Foundation® Programme is intended for students who are entering the world of medicine and dentistry for the first time, or for students who did not quite meet the entry requirements for the M&D Pre-Med®.
The course teaches students the basic knowledge required to study medicine at university. It provides an understanding of how the human body works from the perspectives of physiology, genetics and molecular biology, cells and tissues, microbiology and chemistry.
Students who complete the course and attain a score of 65% or above can gain direct entrance to the M&D Pre-Med® programme at the University of Sussex.
Alongside the in-depth academic preparation for studying medicine, this course also provides excellent advice on how to make successful applications made to medical and dental schools, such as filling out UCAS forms, preperation for the United Kingdom Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) preparation and help with interview techniques.
The M&D Foundation® is the first part of a journey into medicine and dentistry. It is a path that offers many opportunities.
