Clinical instruction takes place at the Faculty Hospital, which has 1750 beds and 430 doctors. At present, there are about 900 Czech students studying on the Czech course and over 200 foreign students studying on the English programme at the Medical Faculty. There is a 50:50 male to female student ratio.
Teaching is oriented towards a detailed knowledge of the structure and functional relationships of the human body, from the molecular level to the organs and systems level.

Over the first two years (4 semesters) both general medicine and dentistry students study the same core subjects at the Theoretical Institute. These include Biophysics, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Embryology and Histology.
During the first 2 years of study, all foreign students are taught the Czech language to enable them to communicate with patients and nurses (who may not speak adequate English) during the clinical part of the course.
The last two years, which are entirely clinical, are based at the University Hospital. The main areas of instruction are Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Preventative Medicine and Hygiene. This part of the course concludes with the final examinations at the end of the sixth year.
The Medical Faculty of Charles University has a newly revised course in Dentistry. Dental students are taught separately from medical students from very early on in the course to provide greater depth and focus on dental procedures. The dental degree course at Hradec Kralove is shorter and less expensive than the other courses we offer at Charles University.
The Dentistry course includes dental propedeutics, which provides theoretical information on tooth care and practical skills based on the use of phantoms. In the third and fourth years, students begin to focus on their major subjects such as Therapeutic, Prosthetic and Surgical Dentistry. This continues until the final exams in the fifth year.
