Teaching standards, facilities, quality and prestige of the University of Cardenal Herrera-CEU in Valencia is very similar to that of other Western European medical and dental schools, such as in the UK.
Here are a few reasons why students usually opt for Valencia:
1. The drop out rate at this dental school is less then 5%. At other Eastern European schools it is usually much higher than this, in some cases 10 times higher. Therefore, starting at this dental school means you are very likely to finish as a dentist, which is a lot cheaper then doing 2 years and dropping out!
2. Spanish is the world's second most popular language. This means graduates can take their medical profession to other countries where Spanish is widely spoken, such as the USA and Latin America. Spanish is also a relatively easy language to learn, which is not the case with Slavonic languages such as Czech or Hungarian which are very difficult and only spoken in their respective countries.
3. Spain is a very pleasant place to be living in, even better as a student, with sunshine virtually all-year-round.
4. Studying medicine or dentistry in Spain is not regarded as a second option for many students. Most students have studied Spanish at school or visited Spain for a holiday and are familiar with the country and its people. However, most people do not even know where Poland, Slovakia or Hungary is!
5. Student feedback from current students from the UK and elsewhere has been excellent. In fact, most of them have commented on how happy they are living in Spain, about the course structure and supportive teaching staff. Some students have even confirmed that if they were offered a place to study anywhere else, including at a UK medical or dental school, they would turn it down!
We know of students who have actually done just that.
5. Students who are admitted to study in Spain are specially selected only if they are very likely to succeed and graduate.
For the above reasons and more, the prestige and student experience in Spain far outweighs the lower cost of studying in Eastern Europe. -
6 academic years.
