Comenius University has for a long time been an important centre of intellectual and multi-cultural life.
The Faculty of Medicine is widely recognised for educating its students to a high academic level and a high level of competence in the fine art of medicine. The teaching of General Medicine and Dentistry takes place in over 50 departments and institutions.
Each academic year is divided into two semesters – Winter and Summer. The academic year begins in September and ends in August.
The first three years of the course comprise theoretical and pre-clinical lectures, labs and practical classes. The remainder of the course is spent gaining clinical experience.

Student life in Bratislava
The city of Bratislava is in a beautiful location on the Danube River, near the Slovak border with Austria and Hungary. There are many convenient connecting flights from Vienna and Budapest (Bratislava is approximately 2½ hours flight from London).

Slovakia is a newly formed European state. It has a charming atmosphere and many attractions such as the natural beauty of its mountains and caves, its many medieval castles and its famous spas.
Those with a wilder streak will appreciate the numerous cinemas, nightclubs and bars. Bratislava is a town of young people, so there are many places, where you can spend evenings and enjoy yourself. You can taste the beers or wines in cosy taverns or spend your free time in the many nightclubs or discos.
